Department of AdditIonal Sources of Energy, Government of Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency

Remote Village Electrification Programme

Under this program, the villages/majras, where electrification through normal grid can not be done by the State Power Corporation Limited due to certain reasons, are being electrified through solar lighting (solar home light and solar street lights). For this program, 90 percent grant in aid is admissible through Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Government of India.Remaining part is borne by the state government/beneficiary. During 2014-15 UPNEDA has electrified 113 villages and 276 majaras of different districts through solar home light plants and solar street light plants.

Facility of R.O.water plant at state primary schools

The agency is implementing solar RO water plant project since last year to provide safe drinking water in state primary schools.Under this project, 1.1 kW Solar Power Plants are being set up at primary schools and 05 fans, 01 D.C. submersible pump and 01 R.O. Water plant of 50 liters per hour capacity are being operated. The estimated cost of one plant is Rs. 270,000 /-.Plant is installed with a 05-year warranty and maintenance. In the first phase of the project during 2014-15 the scheme has been implemented in the 05 districts-Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Kannauj and Etawah as a pilot project.

During 2015-16 plants will be installed 10 districts of the state namely Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Banda, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Mirjapur, Sonbhadra and Auraiya.

Installation of Solar Power Packs for the poor in rural areas

About 32.9 million families live in the state, and still in almost 19 million households which are in rural areas, use kerosene oil for lighting due to lack of electricity supply. In addition, due to irregular power supply in rural areas especially children's education during evening' and economic activities are affected.Power requirement in rural areas is mainly of light, entertainment and for fan which can be accomplished comfortably using solar PV plants in decentralized manner. In view of making the education of children of poor families and economic activities to remain unaffected due to lack of electricity solar power packs have to be made available to them.Installation of solar power packs will be done in the following manner -

  • Solar PV Panel-120 Watt
  • Battery 12-volt, 120 ampere hour tubular plate
  • L.E.D. Light - two of 05 watts and one of 07 watts
  • Fan- ceiling of 25 watts D.C.
  • Additional Point - for Mobile Charging.

During 2015-16, under the scheme it has been proposed to electrify about 11250 selected households from among 1000 Janeshwar Mishra Villages through Solar Power Packs. The estimated cost of a plant is Rs 30000 /-.
