Lohia Rural Housing Program at the Solar Power Pack
To meet basic requirements like housing for BPL families left behind in the 2002
survey by Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh Gvovernment has launched Lohia
Housing Scheme. In these houses a solar power pack consist of 120 watt solar module
and 120 ampere hour tubular plate capacity battery is being set up by UPNEDA.Whereby
each house is being provided with 2 luminaries of 3 watts, one luminary of 5 watts,
a DC ceiling fan of 25-watt and a mobile charging point for mobile charging and
this will be able to operate the above equipments for up to 8 hours per day and
shall have a separate back-up of 2 days. The task of comprehensive warranty for up
to 5 years of Power Pack operation is done by the supplier firm. In Lohiya Awas
identified during 2012-13 & 2013-14, a total of 42181 Solar Power packs in 27
Districts are being installed by UPNEDA with the unit cost of Rs.28850/-. During
2014-15 the total of UPNEDA with the unit cost of Rs.26200/-. During 2015-16, a
total of Rs.57750/- Solar Power Packs in 75 districts are being installed by UPNEDA
with the unit cost of Rs.24100/-

RO Water
The agency is implementing solar RO water plant project since last year to provide
safe drinking water in state primary schools.Under this project, 1.1 kW Solar Power
Plants are being set up at primary schools and 05 fans, 01 D.C. submersible pump
and 01 R.O. Water plant of 50 liters per hour capacity are being operated. The estimated
cost of one plant is Rs. 270,000 /-.Plant is installed with a 05-year warranty and
maintenance. In the first phase of the project during 2014-15 the scheme has been
implemented in the 05 districts-Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Kannauj and Etawah
as a pilot project.
During 2015-16 plants will be installed 10 districts of the state namely Hamirpur,
Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Banda, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Mirjapur, Sonbhadra and Auraiya.
During 2016-17 plants will be installed 100 solar RO Water in 10 districts has been
installed apart from this 200 system also installed under Energy Conservation in
10 districts of the state
Solar Pump
Solar pump is a useful device for irrigation. It works during day time and consumes
no electricity or any fuel. On a sunny day discharge output of this pump is 1.40
lac liters (Maximum). When photovoltaic modules are exposed to sun it generates
D.C. Power and with this power a 2 H.P. D.C. mono block pump operates. It is a very
useful device for irrigation where water table is around 6-7 meters ( 20-25 ft.)

Minigrid Scheeme
Uttar Pradesh Government has promulgated Mini-Grid Policy Uttar Pradesh 2016 to
ensure power supply in rural areas by establishing Mini-Grid power plants based
on New and Renewable energy sources through the private developers.
In order to encourage private developers to set up mini -grid projects in rural
/ urban areas of the Uttar Pradesh, Government has notified Mini-Grid Policy 2016
and Mini-Grid Renewable Energy Generation and Supply Regulations, 2016. Uttar Pradesh
Mini Grid Policy and Regulations are first of its kind in the country.
Under this policy, subsidy will be provided for the projects installed in villages
identified by the Government. However Mini Grid projects can be set up in any self
indentified village on without subsidy. The Power generated from Mini Grids Plants
will be supplied for the domestic, commercial and industrial uses in the villages.
Mini grid projects of aggregate 1.65 MW capacity in 75 villages of various districts
have been installed under the policy, supplying power to 3758 households and 695
commercial establishments. The details are given below:
Considering the prospects of Solar Mini Grid in UP Villages, 15 more Power Plants
of various capacity has been installed in the state.
Mini-Grid Solar Power Plants on full Goverment grants-
Under this program, a Mini-grid Solar Power Plant of 250 KW capacity was installed
on Pilot basis in Village, Fakirpur and Chanduahar Dist. Kannauj in year 2014-15.
The electricity generated from the minigrid plant is being supplied to 332 domestic
connections, ,14 commercial connections, 11 irrigation pumps and 40 street lights
in both villages. The details of mini grid solar power plants sanctioned In FY 2015-16
and 2016-17 on full government grant are as follows:-
Solar City Program
Solar City program is being implemented by the MNRE, Government of India in identified
cities to reduce 10 per cent consumption of power by use of renewable energy sources
with their conventional energy needs and through energy efficiency. In addition to
the above other objectives of the scheme are- to empower urban local bodies to face
the energy challenges in urban areas, to assess the current energy situation, to
help them prepare master plan by including the future demand and action plan, capacity
building for urban local bodies and to spread awareness about energy among all sections
of our society and implement sustainable energy options through public-private partnerships. For
the implementation of the plan, necessary actions are being taken in identified
solar city's by preparing master-plan. Besides Solar City program Government of
India is also implementing Green Campus Scheme for specific urban areas having a
population of upto 5 lakhs.
For implementation of the plan an amount of Rs. 50 lakhs for each solar city and
Rs. 5 lakhs for green campus is being provided by the MNRE and it has been proposed
to provide prevailing grant by the Government of India as applicable to various
projects in public/industrial/beneficiary oriented schemes. The scheme is to be implemented
by the municipal corporation and for Technical Guidance and approval of projects
necessary action has to be taken by UPNEDA. Under the solar city in Uttar Pradesh,
cities of Agra, Moradabad and Allahabad have been identified and under the Green
Campus scheme Dayalbagh, Agra has been selected.
Special Area Demonstration Program (SADP)
The Special Area Demonstration Program (SADP) scheme has been launched by the Ministry
of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India for wide publicity of renewable
energy sources like, solar energy, bio-energy, wind energy and Small Hydro power
etc.
Under this scheme, various plants of renewable energy in the state are installed
in state level energy parks and at tourist/religious sites of international and
national importance, national monuments, government buildings, legislative buildings,
secretariats, monuments, buildings, at religious sites attended by more than 5 to
10 lakhs devotees, eating joints, dhabas, sanctuaries/zoological gardens, collectorate
buildings and renowned educational institutions and in the schools older by more
than 100 years. For category wise identified sites / buildings etc. 50 percent to
100 percent funding is made available as central grant by the MNRE and the remaining
amount has to be borne by the concerned institution and the cost of the projects
can be from Rs. 20.00 lakhs to Rs. 1.00 crore.
Under the scheme, renewable energy plants like solar power plants has been installed
at Raj Bhawan Lucknow and at Collectorate buildings of the Districts-Gazhipur, Balrampur,
Muzaffar Nagar, Baghpat, Saharanpur, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Bareilly and Jaunpur.
Remote Village Electrification Programme
Under this program, the villages/majras, where electrification through normal grid
can not be done by the State Power Corporation Limited due to certain reasons, are
being electrified through solar lighting (solar home light and solar street lights).
For this program, 90 percent grant in aid is admissible through Ministry of New
and Renewable Energy Government of India.Remaining part is borne by the state government/beneficiary.
During 2014-15 UPNEDA has electrified 113 villages and 276 majaras of different
districts through solar home light plants and solar street light plants. Read More...
